“Erudition, eclectic studies and a jazz sensibility make Heinen the kind of newcomer who repositions the goalposts.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Guardian
For this solo recital, London based contemporary pianist, composer and bandleader, Bruno Heinen, who is no new name at Ronnie Scott’s the Southbank Centre and Vortex Jazz Club, amongst many other places, will be re-imagining works by Antonio Vivaldi, Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Kurtag – improvising on themes of their compositions. In the case of the Stockhausen, he will be playing freely alongside one of the original sets of Stockhausen’s own Tierkreis music boxes – given to Bruno’s parents by Stockhausen himself. Alongside this, he will be playing his arrangement of the seminal jazz ballad The Peacocks by Jimmy Rowles. He will also play a variety of his own compositions, including Mr Virtigo – the title track of his forthcoming solo album inspired by the book of the same name by Paul Auster.
