MIAF 2016: Young Artists Platform
Proposals are now being accepted for young artists to perform in the MIAF 2016. Chosen performances will be taking place in the grandeur of the Ambassadors’ Room in the Auberge de Castille. The artistic committee will be choosing among the submitted proposals. Proposals across all art forms are eligible. (Duration: max: 60’. It is also possible to propose 30’ performances.)
Applicants should submit a letter of intent, with an explanation of their project or performance; a biography; photos; digital samples of the work; as well as a list of technical requirements to the Artistic Director of the Festival Dr Michelle Castelletti [email protected] by the 27th of May. The email should be entitled MIAF 2016: Young Artists Platform. Chosen artists will be notified by June 6th.
MIAF2016: Call for Sketches, paintings, art, illustration
An open call for visual artists to submit a work for inclusion within the 2016 Malta International Arts Festival printed programme. Any visual artform which can be reproduced in print via photography is accepted. Please use the current events and performances as inspiration for your work. (Programme page size: 16cm width x 26cm height per page)
The artistic committee will be going through the artwork received and choosing the ones which will be included in the printed programme this year. The festival reserves the right not to choose any work for this publication. The decision of the committee is final.
To apply, please submit a digital copy (in high resolution) of your work to the Artistic Director of the festival, Dr Michelle Castelletti [email protected] The email should be entitled MIAF2016: Call for Art. Applications should be received by no later than 27th May. Chosen artists will be notified by June 6th.
MIAF2016: a cappella
The Malta International Arts Festival is proud to be welcoming Arvo Pärt as guest composer for its 2016 Edition. For this very special occasion, a chamber choir will be created to sing a selection of very special works, including Arvo Pärt’s Magnificat in the presence of the composer himself during a concert which will be taking place together with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra on July 14 in the splendour of St John’s Co-Cathedral. There will be workshops on the repertoire in the 10-day period preceding the concert. The chosen singers will be expected to have learnt the notes and the work done will be on interpretation, balance etc. Scores and other aural aides will be made available for chosen singers.
Anyone interested should write directly to the Artistic Director of the festival, Dr Michelle Castelletti [email protected], including their music biog, exemplifying, where possible, their aptitude and ability to singing one-to-a-part, if necessary. Please feel free to include any web-links, or soundfiles for audio-related material. The e-mail should be entitled: MIAF2016: a cappella.

MIAF2016: Call for Scores
An open call for composers to submit a work for classical guitar to be performed during the 2016 edition of Malta International Arts Festival. Duration: 5’ (max) This will be performed on July 11th at Fort St Elmo by renowned Maltese guitarist, Simon Schembri. The composition must be for guitar solo.
A panel of composers, together with Simon Schembri will be going through the scores. The festival reserves the right not to choose a work for this performance. The decision of the committee is final.
